Rising insecurity and poverty.
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said in is latest report on Afghanistan that the number of internally displaced people in the country has reached six million.
The organization cites conflict and drought in Afghanistan as the main reasons for the increase in IDPs in the country.
According to the organization, the number of internally displaced persons increased unprecedentedly from 2016 to 2018, and 2021 was also one of the most difficult years for IDPs due to the escalation of violence in the country.
According to the report, in 2021 alone, 1.3 million people were displaced in different parts of Afghanistan.
The organization added that in the last 11 years, more than 4,519,000 people have been displaced to foreign countries.
The group blamed the escalation of war and economic hardship on Afghan citizens fleeing their country and said many of the refugees had sought refuge in Afghanistan's neighboring countries.
