Who We Are

Touched by the love of the Heavenly Father who sent His son Jesus to become our Savior, we felt compelled by God to open a center in the heart of Athens where the divine commands “Feed the poor” (Deuteronomy 15:11) and “Preach the Gospel” (Matthew 28:19f) could be realized.

It started in 2012 with an Iranian couple, Farzad and Parisa Daniel, and since then we have opened our doors for the needy, especially refugees from Muslim countries – Iranians, Afghans and Kurds. We have been assisted by different volunteer groups and more and more by AVC Switzerland, who sent relief goods and donations.

In 2016 we were registered as an NGO by the Greek Government under the name of AVC Hellas. With the influx of refugees our work grew over the years. More venues, more apartments for the very vulnerable were rented. Thus we tried to help the needy, feed the poor and pass on God’s fatherly love.

By distributing clothes, food and other vital items we want to meet the immediate needs of the people who come for help. Then we offer regular programs - like language classes, home craft classes, children’s clubs, ladies’ meetings, evangelical meetings, Alpha courses and Bible studies – so that they get to know our Christian faith better and they can check the authenticity of our personal faith. This is the great challenge in our everyday life, especially with those who live in the center.

With the years the activities expanded also to the areas the refugees came from, because we saw it was much better for people to receive help in their home countries than to flee into countries with completely different ways of life. So a refugee camp at the Turkish border was founded, then a Christian center in Kobane, Northern Syria. We were called to help in another camp in Iraq and even to Rwanda in Africa. Everywhere people are helped regardless of their race, belief and social state, when we have the means. But we see that God confirms our work with miracles, changed lives and by filling our hands with what we need in His time.

Our Mission

Because we experienced the Love that comes from God’s Father heart we are moved to obey Jesus’ great commission and to make His Father’s love known to people in need, especially to refugees with Muslim background. Wherever a door is opened by Him and we see that He gives the means, we go and make this love known in word and deed and through the way we live.

We provide free medical and sanitary services to those in need We are ready to receive humanitarian aids from around the world and provide it to those in need as soon as possible. Our friends and colleagues help us a lot. Throughout the year, we hold meetings in our centers in different countries to scrutiny the needs of those in need. We do our best to meet their needs.

Our Vision

Our vision is to give people in need a practical help in their actual problems. To most of them God is a remote person, to be feared, a slaveholder who has no interest in their wellbeing. They shall get to know the true Father in AVC Father’s House and get a new hope and perspective. They shall discover that God is a personal God who cares for them and wants to enter a relationship with them.

When they learn to trust God and see Him working in their daily lives, they will share the Gospel with their families, friends and neighbors, because their love, joy and peace in Christ will be seen. Thus, the Good News will be spread to places where we cannot go to, and we will meet the material needs of those that seek help as well as their spiritual needs.

Our Message

We pray in the name of God, wishing good to the whole world, and praying for our enemies and friends to enjoy God's mercy. We are ready to give the best in the service of God's servants.

We have come to know Jesus Christ to all people so that they may hear the voice of God and enjoy His mercy. We hold hands together and we ask God to make the world a more beautiful place to live. " But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you," Matthew 5:44
