%37 of Afghan households are unable to provide food

Afghanistan on the verge of economic collapse.

The World Bank has warned that Afghanistan's economic situation has deteriorated since the Taliban took control and that %37 of families are unable to afford food. The bank has warned that past developments will be lost if this trend continues.

"The isolation of the Afghan economy following the political crisis last August has led to dangers that will lead to extreme poverty, displacement, fragility and the threat of extremism," said Tobias Hawke, the World Bank's chief economist for Afghanistan.

The Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan has led US governments to cut US development and security assistance, and sanctions weakened Afghanistan's banking sector.

According to a World Bank report, incomes have plummeted to the point that about %37 of Afghan households do not have enough money to feed themselves, while the other %33 can only buy food, nothing more.

The World Bank predicts that if current conditions continue, Afghanistan's real GDP per capita will fall by about %34 at the end of 2022, eliminating all progress since 2007.

The United States canceled scheduled meetings with the group in March, which included some meetings with the World Bank to discuss key economic issues after the Taliban barred girls from going to school. To talk.

The report, entitled "Towards Economic Stability and Improvement," states that "the Taliban are expected to meet basic standards for the treatment of women and girls in order to obtain more funding and international advice. They must respect human rights and pay attention to sound economic management."
