Prominent Christian Bishop Stabbed on Live Broadcast

Threats against Christians in Australia increase

Bishop Mar-Marie Emmanuel and several others were stabbed during the weekly church service on Monday night, which was being broadcast live. The attack occurred at the Church of Christ the Good Shepherd. Bishop Emmanuel sustained six stab wounds, as depicted in images showing the assailant approaching him and inflicting serious injuries to his face and body with a knife. The current health condition of Bishop Emmanuel remains undisclosed.

Subsequently, individuals present at the church attempted to restrain the attacker, who continued to stab the bishop while he was on the ground. Bishop Mar-Marie Emmanuel, a prominent Christian figure on social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, has been vocal about his opinions on Islam, Western leaders, and the Catholic Church. His Assyrian origins trace back to Iraq's Anbar Province, and he serves as a leader in the Eastern Orthodox Church.

Following the attack on Bishop Emmanuel, clashes reportedly erupted between hundreds of people and the police in southwest Sydney on Monday night.
