Afghanistan: Badghis province after the earthquake

Survivors in the cold and hunger.

The victims of the recent earthquake in Badghis province are living a difficult life after the destruction of their homes. It has been snowing in the quake-hit areas in recent days, and locals are living in cold weather, living under tents. Many children and elderly people in these families have fallen ill due to the cold weather.

A resident of Qades district, who lost his house as a result of the earthquake and a member of his family died in the earthquake, told TOLOnews: "He is now spending the cold winter under a tent with his family of eight." he does. Another resident said that there is nothing left of our houses, I live in someone else's house, we are facing many problems and difficulties.

Local officials in Badghis say efforts are underway to enlist the help of charities and humanitarian organizations, but their plight requires more assistance.

The quake shook three poor villages in Qades district of Badghis province and destroyed most of the houses of the locals. Most of the people in these villages have no bread to eat and can not rebuild their houses without cooperation.

Afghanistan's difficult economic situation, after the Taliban came to power, has led to a dramatic increase in the cost of living, on the one hand, and on the other hand, cold and winter and natural disasters, have greatly increased the problems of the people. Badghis area is in an emergency situation and in urgent need of assistance due to the earthquake and difficult access to it.
