Another confirmation of a biblical history.
A Palestinian farmer discovers a 4,500-year-old Anat statue, the ancient goddess of Canaanites, who according to the Bible God commanded the Israelites to expel them from the Promised Land for violating His commandments and worshiping false gods.
The statue is made of limestone and has a crown in the shape of a snake.
The finder initially thought of selling the statue of the goddess, but changed his mind when archaeologists informed him of its "archaeological value".
According to the Bible, the Canaanites occupied the land that God had promised to Abraham. They were descendants of Canaan, the grandson of Noah, who was cursed for their father's transgression against Noah during Genesis (9: 25-20).
The Canaanites angered the Lord by worshiping idols and sacrificing children to their false gods. These acts violate the first and second of the Ten Commandments of Moses.
God also warned the Israelites not to be influenced by the Canaanites and their culture. Instead, they were to cleanse the earth of such wickedness and act on God's promise in Genesis 12 to turn Abraham and his descendants into a "great nation".
According to the Israel Times in 2017, Hamas demolished the remains of the Canaanite city of Tel Al-Skan to build houses and military bases.
