The number of victims exceeded thirty people.
As per the spokesperson of the Ministry of Natural Disaster Management of Afghanistan has stated that the recent flood has resulted in the unfortunate demise of over 31 individuals in the past 72 hours.
Additionally, more than 74 people have been injured and 41 individuals have been reported missing. Shafiullah Rahimi has further added that 250 cattle and livestock have also been lost.
The central region of Afghanistan has been severely affected by the torrential rains and floods, leading to numerous fatalities and missing individuals.
The officials of the Afghan Meteorological Department had previously issued warnings regarding the possibility of such natural calamities.
Afghanistan is situated on the western periphery of the Asian monsoon region, and it is a common occurrence for sudden floods to transpire during the summer season due to heavy rainfall flowing through dry riverbeds.
The recent heavy rains and flooding have also been observed in various parts of the world, including Somalia, New Zealand, and the United States, which is a cause for concern in South Asia.
