Iran: Dozens of people are at risk of execution

Implementation of heavy Islamic laws against protesters.

Amnesty International announced in a statement on Friday that at least 26 people in Iran are at risk of execution in connection with the recent protests in this country.

Referring to the execution of two protestors following trials and attempts to create fear among the people and end the protests, this organization clarified that at least 11 of these 26 people were sentenced to death and 15 people were charged with Mufsid Fil Arz and Muharib.

Amnesty International also noted that these people were deprived of a fair trial process, including the right to an adequate defense and access to a lawyer and the right to a fair trial.

According to the evidence that this organization has, some of these people have been tortured and forced to confess.

The Islamic Republic of Iran executed Majidreza Rahnavard in public on Monday morning, 21 December, in the city of Mashhad. This is the second execution of people arrested following the protests of the last three months.

Harana, the news agency of the group of human rights activists in Iran, also announced that 490 people have died in Iran's protests so far, 68 of whom were under 18 years old.

According to the report of this organization, the number of arrested people has been announced as 18,262.

The arrest of thousands of people in Iran has raised concerns that more protesters may face the death penalty.

In Islam, according to verse 33 of Surah Ma'idah, muhareb and mufsad fi al-arz refer to those who have insulted Allah and Muhammad or entered into war with Islam.
