Iran: Extremist expressions against Christianity

Anti-Christians activities increase.

Attacks on Christianity by members of Islamic centers and associations or by clerics and government authorities are not new. In his latest remarks, the Friday prayer leader of Bojnourd, who represents the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic in North Khorasan Province, said in his speech that Judaism and Christianity are deviant religions that will not grow.
The extremist expression by the representative of Ali Khamenei reveals the extent to which anti-Christianity and anti-Semitism are prevalent in the highest levels of government in Iran.
Khamenei's representative remarks come less than a week before the Islamic Republic's human rights headquarters told the United Nations in an interim report on the progress of human rights in Iran that religious minorities in Iran are completely free. And they have the right to vote and to be elected and to hold peaceful rallies and even marches, and there is no discrimination against them.
Recently, in similar remarks, Jalil Parvin, a member of the faculty of the University of Islamic Religions, claimed in a meeting entitled "Quranic Critique of the Divine Perspective and the Trinity" held on the 7th of December (on the occasion of the birth of Christ) that "no religion is contaminated with polytheism more than Christianity" and "polytheism is the only sin that cannot be forgiven without repentance." He went on to call the Christian beliefs in the Bible "infidels" and said that we do not accept them, and advised that Christians should either abandon Christianity or respond to infidelity!
The Islamic Republic of Iran has made large investments in the fight against Christianity. While claiming that religious minorities have full citizenship rights, there is an increasing effort to fight and prevent the spread of Christianity among Iranians.
