Malaria vaccination in Africa

Malaria vaccination in Africa

The World Health Organization has agreed to widespread vaccination against malaria in Africa.

Children across Africa will soon be vaccinated against the disease in a historic development in the fight against malaria.

Malaria is one of the most dangerous diseases that usually takes its toll on children.

Getting a vaccine for this disease after a century of effort is one of the greatest achievements of the medical world.

The effectiveness of this vaccine, called RTSS, was determined six years ago

Now, after the success of pilot vaccination programs in Ghana, Kenya and Malawi, the World Health Organization has said the vaccine should be distributed throughout southern Africa and other areas facing malaria outbreaks.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that the world is facing a historic moment: "The long-awaited malaria vaccine for children is finally here, with a major breakthrough in medical knowledge that could save the lives of tens of thousands of children each year.
