Human Rights Watch: Taliban set fire to homes of Afghan citizens.
A report by Human Rights Watch released on Wednesday said Taliban fighters had openly looted the homes of Afghan citizens because of their cooperation with the Kabul-based central government.
The human rights group said "retaliatory attacks" by Taliban fighters had taken place in districts under their control.
"The Taliban leadership has the power to stop the abuse of its forces, but they have not shown that they are ready to do so," Patricia Grossman, director of the Asian section of Human Rights Watch, said in a statement.
The silence of the Taliban
A Taliban spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The Taliban last month instructed its military commanders on its Twitter account to protect public property and treat people well.
