Nigeria: Attack on Christians on Christmas Eve

Negligence of the government in protecting the Christian minority.

One person was killed and more than 50 people were injured following an attack on Christians on Christmas Eve in northern Nigeria.

On Christmas Eve and right in the middle of the church service in the village of Angwan Ako, the Fulani militias, which are considered one of the branches of extremist Islamists in Nigeria, attacked the village and started shooting scattered, as a result of which one person was killed and several others were injured.

They kidnapped 53 people from the village.

Just a few months ago, Fulani militants slaughtered nearly 70 Christians in Mallagom village.

So far, the Nigerian government and government authorities have not taken any action to protect the Christian minorities in the north of the country, despite the repeated requests of the people and non-governmental organizations.

According to the annual report of the Open Doors organization, only in the first quarter of 2022, 896 Christians were killed during the attacks of the Boko Haram group, the Islamic State of West Africa, and the Fulani group.
