Outlook for the situation of Christians in Iran in 2023

Prediction of increased persecution of Iranian converts.

Radio Free Asia (RFA) reported that the RI report titled "Persecution Trends 2023", was released and listed China, North Korea, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Malaysia, and Iran as countries where Christians face persecution.

According to the latest report by the Christian rights group Release International (RI), persecution of Christians in seven Asian countries, including China, will increase in 2023 due to political pressure and extremist religious views.

In this report about Iran, it is said that harassment has increased in Iran.

Now, Iran is the scene of resistance against the radical Islamic laws imposed by the regime of the Islamic Republic, so the security authorities of this country continue to suppress the opposition, including the Christian minority and especially the Christian converts, and it is supposed to intensify the control and security pressure on the Christians in 2023.

Reports obtained by Release International indicate a "new wave of persecution against Christian converts."

According to RI reports: "There is a massive effort to stop the spread of Christianity and arrest those who lead house churches and preach and teach."

According to the future plans of the Iranian government, especially due to the protests of the last few months, and based on the reports received from the lawyers of the imprisoned believers, longer prison sentences will be issued for Christian converts.

This shows the deep concern of the Iranian government about the spread of Christianity among the Muslims of this country.
