The United Nations has issued a statement expressing concern over reports of killings and the use of force against migrants and displaced persons in the Gargash area of Tripoli.
According to Sky News, one of the migrants was killed and at least 15 people were injured and six others are in critical condition following an attack by Libyan security officials on houses and temporary shelters in the Gargash area, which is a refugee area in Tripoli.
The United Nations has called on Libyan authorities to respect human rights and to uphold the dignity of all people, including refugees and displaced persons.
At least 4,000 people, including women and children, were detained during the security operation, according to officials at the Office for Combating Illegal Immigration.
The United Nations also received reports of a young man being shot dead and five others injured.
The UN delegation in Libya also said it had received reports of communication disruptions that prevented it from communicating or accessing information or requesting assistance.
And that means many refugees and people in need in this country can't even apply for help. There is an urgent need for field research to find the needy in this country and to meet their needs, which must be done by the relevant institutions.
