The United Nations called for a quick international response.
The humanitarian crisis in the Central African Republic continues to worsen. As a result of violence against civilians and insecurity in areas outside urban centers, several million people have increasingly suffered livelihoods. Their access to food and basic services, such as health care and water supply, is severely limited.
In 2023, 3. 4 million people, which is about 56% of the population, will need humanitarian assistance and support, which has increased by 10% compared to 2022. This statistic includes 2 million people who are facing severe needs and their physical and mental health is at risk.
Water, sanitation, food security and life are the major needs that will depend on the comprehensive provision of humanitarian aid in 2023, and it includes 2 to 3 million people in each sector.
There are nearly half a million IDPs in the country who have been living in emergency shelters for nearly two years, and approximately 70 percent of IDPs live with host families in straw-built structures and semi-permanent accommodations.
On the other hand, children are exposed to various risks such as physical and sexual exploitation due to not attending school. Men and boys are more likely to be forcibly recruited by armed groups, while women and girls are at risk of forced marriage and early pregnancy.
Recurring violence, ongoing shocks and reductions in basic services have significantly worsened the living conditions of the people of Central Africa in 2022. On the other hand, data analysis and statistics show that this situation will worsen in 2023 if international institutions do not cooperate to solve it.
