The ambiguous situation of other Christian prisoners in Evin.
In a report published by the Article 18 news website and quoted by (Iman Soleimani), the defense lawyer of Mr. Nasser Navard Goltapeh, on Monday, October 25, the authorities of Evin prison announced that he has been released.
According to the same source: "A request was made for the amnesty of Nasser Goltapeh a few months ago, and the matter was followed up in the "Amnesty Commission" and agreed to about a month ago, but the administrative procedures and its implementation coincided with nationwide protests and Postponed."
According to this report, Fariba Dalir, another Christian convert in Evin prison, has also been released from prison in recent days.
Mrs. Dalir went to Evin prison to serve her sentence on April 27 this year in November 2021, she was sentenced to 5 years in prison by the Revolutionary Court of Tehran on the charge of "acting against national security through the formation and administration of a Christian church".
Regarding Mr. Navard Goltapeh, it should be mentioned that his request for parole was rejected for the fifth time in a row.
During his imprisonment, he was denied medical attention despite suffering from oral and dental disease and needing glasses due to poor eyesight. He, who was taking care of his elderly mother before his arrest, spent his imprisonment without leave.
Mrs. Dalir also spent more than 200 days in detention due to her Christian belief and peaceful religious activity. This Christian citizen was imprisoned in solitary confinement for about 50 days. The release of these two people from Evin prison takes place while a fire broke out in this prison next week.
According to the report of the Article 18 Organization, at least 10 Christian prisoners of conscience are still in Evin, and eight others are in other prisons across the country or in exile.
At the time of the fire, about 12 Iranian Christians were imprisoned in Evin for their religious beliefs and peaceful activities. These prisoners of conscience were not harmed.
