Syria is still the biggest refugee crisis.
The current strategic stalemate and Syria's absence from the headlines should not suggest that the crisis requires less attention or resources, or that an immediate political solution is not needed.
The UN envoy called for the expansion of regional and international aid, and stressed the need to address the plight of tens of thousands of Syrians who remain in detention, displaced, abducted or missing.
"Syria is on the verge of becoming another forgotten crisis" as millions of people struggle to survive each month, UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Joyce Masouya warned.
The economic crisis continues, while food and fuel prices are rising exponentially, affecting water supply, basic necessities and other basic services.
In recent months, three aid convoys have been provided hoping to establish more livelihoods in May in northwestern Syria, where more than four million people are in need.
While displacement in Ukraine is growing tragically, Syria, with 8.6 million refugees and 2.6 million internally displaced persons, remains the world's largest displacement crisis. Half of the pre-war population, in fact, a whole generation born and raised in displacement.
