The situation of children: fears and hopes

The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said in a report on its Twitter account: "Since the beginning of January this year, about 30,000 people have been displaced due to the escalation of violence in various parts of Yemen."

In the first two weeks of January this year, more than 1,200 families were displaced as the war continued in various parts of Yemen, especially in the provinces of Shabwa, Maarib and Al-Hudaidah.
According to the report, this number will be added to the 4.3 million Yemeni refugees who have been displaced since the beginning of the war.

Since September 2014, Iranian-backed Houthi militias have taken control of Sanaa, the capital of Yemen. The Saudi-led Arab Coalition has also supported the legitimate government of Yemen since March 2015.

According to the latest UN report, 377,000 people lost their lives during the Yemeni civil war. More than 22 million people out of a total population of 30 million are in need of assistance due to the conflict.

On the other hand, the United Nations announced the signing of a comprehensive action plan, based on the agreement of all major parties to end the grave violation of children's rights.

The Houthis are committed to ending the recruitment and use of children and working with their release from their ranks within six months to provide support for reintegration into society.

Regulations on preventing the killing and disability of children and protecting health and education facilities are also included in the action plan.

Virginia Gamba, the UN Special Representative for Children following the signing of the Action Plan in New York, said: But our difficult journey has just begun.
