Should we get used to rising food prices?
This year's World Food Day is accompanied by a United Nations warning of "an unprecedented and catastrophic decline in food security" and concerns about rising global food prices.
"About half a million people in Ethiopia, Madagascar, South Sudan and Yemen are on the brink of starvation. In recent months, groups of vulnerable populations in Burkina Faso and Nigeria have been in a similar situation," the United Nations said.
The United Nations has called for immediate funding to support the 41 million people on the brink of starvation in various countries.
According to the British Charity Project "Hunger Project", about 690 million people in the world live with chronic hunger and 850 million people in the world are at risk of poverty due to Quid 19. 60% of those 690 million people are women.
