Anti-fascist rallies in Greece

Anti-fascist rallies on Saturday and Sunday in the capital of Greece, Athens, with thousands of protesters.

The demonstration was called by left-wing parties and student associations.  Protesters took to the streets to demand an end to the escalation of fascist violence.
According to media sources, the police used tear gas to control the crowd that the reaction of protesters, including "Euclid Takalotus", brought the former Finance Minister of Syriza's leftist party.  He strongly criticized Greek government officials for not confronting fascism in the country.
"The government's treatment of those who fight fascism shows a low level of tolerance," said the former Greek finance minister.
Demonstrators held placards and chanted anti-racist slogans on Stadio Street.  When the protesters tried to march, the police using tear gas, prevented people from mobility and tensions raised.
Reports indicate that fascists and Nazi sympathizers have seized power in Greece, and that the people of this country have repeatedly protested.  The Athenians have repeatedly marched on the Greek parliament, chanting slogans such as "Fascism" and "Nazism" have no place in Greece, and that Nazism and fascism are against Greek culture and civilization.
Fascists in Greece have repeatedly attacked asylum seekers in Greece and demanded that they leave Greece.  Greek security sources recently said that two people were killed and two others were seriously injured in a shooting in front of the building belonging to the Greek neo-Nazi party known as the "Golden Dawn".
The incident came weeks after six members of the Golden Dawn Party, including its chairman and founder, were charged with involvement in a criminal gang.  The accusation was made as part of a campaign against the neo-Nazi party following the killing of an anti-fascist musician by a member of the party.
