Ukraine: More than five million displaced

The military situation and tension in February 2022, turned Ukraine into a full-fledged humanitarian crisis. People leave their homes to seek refuge elsewhere in the country or seek refuge in neighboring countries. The current situation is very dangerous for anyone inside Ukraine.

Even before the recent events, Ukraine had been plagued by years of conflict and political instability. By the end of 2021, approximately three million people in Ukraine were in need of humanitarian assistance, including more than 850,000 displaced by the central government's conflict with separatist groups.

In a recent statement, the United Nations called on international organizations and countries to provide cash and non-cash assistance so that displaced persons can purchase essential items such as food and medicine. They also need the cooperation and assistance of other organizations in the transportation of children traveling alone, and people with disabilities.

According to the latest figures released by the United Nations, more than 2.3 million people have sought refuge in Ukraine from neighboring countries since February 24.

According to figures released by the Human Response Plan 2022, nearly three million people displaced before the recent events in Ukraine are in need of assistance, and apart from that, the IDP population has so far reached one million.
