Ukrainians displaced to neighboring countries

If the war continues, millions will be displaced.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) says about 100,000 Ukrainians have been displaced since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) spokeswoman said several thousand Ukrainians had arrived in neighboring countries, mainly Moldova and Romania, during the first few hours of the war. He added that the figures came from information gathered by national officials, UN agency staff and partner agencies.

These figures may increase significantly in the coming days. UN agencies estimated on Friday that up to five million people would be displaced. According to the source, food, fuel, cash and sanitary equipment are currently declining in some areas.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Urban, known for his tough stance on immigration, has said he is ready to accept Ukrainian asylum seekers. The number of people evacuated to this country is 60,000.

According to media reports, several hundred people, especially women with children, have fled the Ukrainian-Romanian border. But the Romanian government has not yet announced its readiness to accept Ukrainian immigrants. Romania's border police have previously announced an increase in the number of people entering the country. According to this source, it has registered about 5300 people so far.

Since 2014, Ukraine has been plagued by unstable economic and living conditions, following tensions in Ukraine over separatist regions with Russia. With Russia invading Ukraine over the past two days, if the war continues, Europe will see a significant crisis for its millions of migrants.
