Ukrainians on the way home

Ukrainians on the way home

30,000 Ukrainians return to the country every day.

While about 4.5 million Ukrainians have emigrated since the beginning of Russia's occupation of Ukraine, the United Nations says about half a million Ukrainians have returned. According to the organization, the return of migrants to a war-torn country will create new difficulties for their resettlement and integration.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) announced on Thursday that more than 870,000 people who fled abroad since the Russian invasion on 24 February, have now returned to Ukraine. This figure is provided by the National Bureau of Border Guards of Ukraine.

According to the latest report on the situation of Ukrainian immigrants, this figure is significant and indicates that the return of Ukrainians to their country is likely to increase.

The United Nations said last week that some 7.1 million Ukrainians had been displaced by the war and needed protection.

The report says that most Ukrainians inside the country need cash, medicine, health care, and most of all, protection. The situation in the northern, southern and eastern regions of Ukraine is catastrophic as the conflict intensifies and spreads to newer regions.

On the other hand, numerous and confirmed attacks on health centers have limited access to services for the needy. It is reported that about 1,000 health centers are concentrated in areas where the war is raging.

The United Nations also expressed concern that access to education for Ukrainian children in war zones was limited and that this restriction would have serious consequences in the short term and in the years to come.
